Time Saving Devices!

"One of my favorite examples of our silly Western contradictions is where he talks about time-saving devices. In Western culture, we are constantly surrounded with time-saving devices, from alarm clocks to microwaves to computers to cell phones... yet we rarely have enough time. Then what happens when you go to a place where there are no time-saving devices? All of a sudden you have all the time in the world!"

Hi,

I went to the Victoria Memorial Blind School today. The initiative is taken up by the Corporate Maitree Team, and after hearing about it for long, I got to be a part of it.

I made new friends in Sachin, Sachin, Aftab and Rohit apart from the TCSers.

These guys are quick and keen. They have a smile which is infectious, and an attitude which is enviable. Often we feel handicapped by circumstances when we ask God, 'Why me?'

These guys can choose to ask this question apart from other similar questions day in and day out, yet they dont. They embrace life without any complains, and they bring joy to beings like me!

It was a pleasure to teach them, spend time with them and just hear them. I can yet picture Aftab's smile and his beautiful voice. He is gifted with such a wonderful voice. I can yet hear "Subhan Allah" in my ears!

I wish God blesses my new friends!

Of People & Places

Hi,

This comes after a long time. I wanted to blog on topics such as my Vaishnodevi trip, the Mumbai blasts and the happenings at office, but with time gone by, I choose to write about another topic - People.

There are some people in the world who have this amazing enthusiasm within them. A spirit which cannot be matched. I have come across many such people right from the school days.

Rather than the ones in school, I will start will start with the ones I met in DJ. First of them being Mrunal. She was one person who enjoyed life, and was always surrounded by a positive vibe. I always envied her enthusiasm and that giggle. It was amazing. The same energy was visible in Sheili too, with a even higher level of positivity. The way she let everything so seem easy with her carefree attitude. The energy was always contagious. It would spread to the other person easily.

There was Sagar too - the Pagal Guy! He too brought smiles but along with those frustrating looks of others! :-)

Sarika is the perfect example of such a person in office. The endless amount of energy in her never stops to amaze me. After reading a blog on Lost Souls, I realize that these people successfully keep their souls alive, irrespective of whats happening in this world. They can bring a smile to any face at any given point of time. Something that I have always wanted to do.

Yes, everything is possible in this world, and if I want to, I can duplicate such an attitude too. But, time moulds us into a person, and this person is always difficult to change. I have always been a firm optimist, and have looked life in the eye. I love the challenges and whatever life brings, but at times, when I see others in pain, I want to do something to help the person. If I cant, I hate the helpless feeling and just want to be the person who can bring a smile to others.

Apart from these people, there was Ali in school and Gaganbabu in ILP. But, along with the energy came other attributes in their personality. Ali was the nightmare of all the teachers, and if Mrs. Neelam had her way, she would have 'shot him with a double barrel gun'!. :-)

Yet, the way that fellow imitated the teachers, played pranks etc., was awesome.

The grass is always greener on the other side, but I truly hope God lets the enthusiasm of these people successfully sail through the storms that life brings.
